What is new in the Diablo 2: remake?

After the tech alpha playtests of Diablo 2 the team has made some changes concerning the community feedbacks. The developers mentioned that the game is still under development as they are improving the video effects. Also, they are working on the quality of life, artwork and some more things.

We have also noticed the enhancement of some sorceress skills like blizzard and lightning, Paladin’s Holy Freeze aura. The Diablo 2 resurrection team has also renovated the colours of the cold and poison effects on monsters.

Gameplay

In this series, developers have not changed much of the original series like the game balance and item systems are intact. They have worked on the network functions, graphics and enhancement of video quality. Another remarkable change is its switch to 3D from its 2D model of the year 2000.

Moreover, the players here have the liberty to toggle between upgraded visuals legacy with just a press of a key. The Diablo team has also remade the cutscenes and also, the game supports 7.1 Dolby Surround sound and 4K graphics resolution.

Development

The work for the Diablo 2: remake started in 2019 with the 2 developing companies. Vicarious visions handled the 3D client and front end, while Blizzard looked after Battle.net integration and the back-end server aspects of the remake. In February 2021, it was news that Vicarious went with Blizzard’s corporate structure.

This was because Vicarious has complete knowledge about the Diablo game series and thus joining hands with Blizzard will help in better production of games. In a 2019 media event, we came to know about the uncertainty of this remake because of their data loss of the game’s source code. But they acquired almost all the data and thus they are set to launch.
